Cons Lag in current shows availability

Netflix Review

Since taking over the streaming world with a large library of movies and TV shows, Netflix has grown into an Emmy-winning producer of original content. The intuitive design allows its over 117 million subscribers to access their favorites quickly and from anywhere. As one of the first of its kind, Netflix is causing many to ditch cable for good.

Already with over 100 million hours of movies and TV shows, Netflix has continued to add on its collection of classics and new hits from almost every genre with original, must-see TV. Netflix does not offer the current episodes of most TV shows, but offers the most recent complete season all at once, which leads to the famous Netflix binge.

Netflix Pros

Netflix has a wide range of original and popular content.  The variety of movies and shows it has and continues to add to its library is impressive and the quality of the original shows is increasing each season and starting to win some coveted awards.  Netflix offers downloadable content, and the “skip intro” feature that is quickly becoming a fan favorite.  Streaming Netflix across multiple devices is seamless.  Multiple account profiles make it easy for families to share and monitor accounts and starter packages are highly competitive with their pricing.

Netflix Cons

With rotating content, it can be frustrating to find that the show you wanted to watch next week is no longer available when your free time finally arrives. Netflix does not have an easy way of seeing titles that are coming or going. Fortunately, there are some third-party sites that can be useful.

Netflix Bottom Line

Netflix provides a large library and quality service at an affordable price. Whether you’re looking to cut the cord completely or just looking to supplement regular TV, Netflix is sure to fill your entertainment needs.

To call Netflix a game-changer in the entertainment industry probably underestimates the groundbreaking role the company has played in the way we watch television. It’s easy to forget that when Netflix was founded in 1997 as a DVD mail-order subscription company, the video rental market was dominated by Blockbuster and if you wanted to watch your favorite TV show you had better remember to either record it or sit down in front of the television exactly when it aired.

Netflix | Changes The Digital Entertainment Industry

Today, Blockbuster and most rental stores are a thing of the past while Netflix has helped give consumers previously unheard of control over when and how they watch the shows and movies they love. While other digital streaming companies have come into existence since then, Netflix remains the industry leader.

Netflix Basic Features

Part of Netflix’s success is its simplicity. You pay a monthly subscription fee, and in return, you get access to Netflix’s massive library of shows and movies. There is no contract, so you can cancel anytime you want and there are no hidden fees. The library includes a constantly updated roster of new and old programming, including everything from classic movies to modern blockbusters. While most subscribers watch Netflix on their computers, Netflix can also be watched on smartphones, tablets, video game consoles, and smart TVs. In fact, the ability to watch Netflix on multiple platforms is what has led many to cut the cord

Netflix Original Programming (Series and Movies)

Original programming is one of Netflix’s standout features, and it alone justifies the price of its subscription. Netflix pioneered a novel approach to producing and distributing original content by funding projects almost entirely upfront and consistently signing up two seasons of most shows, which has given film creators much more creative license. As a result, Netflix has produced an astonishing array of award-winning shows and movies, including Orange is the New Black, House of Cards, Stranger Things, Master of None, Grace and Frankie, Narcos, and much more. Netflix has also gained a reputation for producing many top-notch stand-up comedy specials, including by Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld, Bill Burr, and more.

Aside from original content, Netflix also has deals with many major broadcasters and producers to either be the exclusive pay-TV distributors of their U.S. library or to broadcast their back catalogs. However, one downside of Netflix is that while its content is constantly being updated, it is not always obvious when a show or movie gets added or removed from the catalog. Furthermore, the search feature isn’t always the most useful way of finding shows or movies that you’re after.

Netflix Pricing

Netflix’s pricing scheme is pretty straightforward and much cheaper than almost any cable TV package. There are three tiers, and each tier gives you unlimited access to Netflix’s full catalog. However, the higher tiers give you access to HD and Ultra HD content and also allow you to increase the number of screens you can watch with Netflix at the same time. The most basic subscription plan only allows you to watch Netflix on one screen at a time.

Netflix On The Go

Netflix is very mobile-friendly and every Netflix subscription can be used on mobile devices. The service is compatible with a very wide range of devices, including tablets and smartphones. While Netflix can eat up a lot of data, you do have the option of downloading episodes or movies to your device so that you can watch them later without worrying about getting slapped with a surprisingly high phone bill.

How It Works

Join Netflix free for a month to check out some of your favorite shows and movies.  First you will be asked to pick a plan.  Be sure you pick one that can stream to the number of devices you might need at a given time.   Then you are just a click away from streaming videos after entering your email and password.  Submit your payment info and you are ready to go.

Plans & Pricing

With a basic plan starting at $7.99 per month, Netflix is a steal. It’s perfect for one person to watch as much as they want. Even the most premium service is affordable, costing only $13.99 per month and allows up to 4 simultaneous users to watch their shows in Ultra HD. Whether it’s for a family of movie buffs or a group of friends sharing an account, the upgrades pay off.

Member Services

Watch your favorite shows and movies from wherever you are with access on your phone, computer, or smart TV. Some titles are even available to download for free offline viewing – which means no more boring airplane movies on your long flights. Pick what you want to watch and let it run. Netflix will automatically play the next episode in a series or suggest similar movies once you’re done. Stopping and starting or transferring from one device to another is simple because Netflix will start playback right where you left off.

Hi Paul, Netflix has a wide selection of classic war movies, such as “Apocalypse Now”, “Black Hawk Down”, and “The Hurt Locker”. And there is plenty of mature content provided via movies, tv series, animation, and documentaries. Happy watching!
