Bidets are becoming more prevalent in the US, but still not widely found outside of major hotel chains in major cities. Costco and Amazon sell different models, but Toto is the most popular brand in Japan and is available as a seat attachment model for around $250US as of 12/2019. The Toto model comes with relatively simple instructions and installs in about 45 minutes to an hour.

How long does it take to get to Japan?

Of course this varies based on starting location and number of stops, but from the west coast of the US one can plan on about 11 hours of flight time. Even departing from San Diego on a non-stop flight to Narita airport in Tokyo, when factoring security wait times and transportation to and from the airports, one can expect 18-24 hours of travel time door-to-door.
